# 1:1 mentoring for frontend developers

I review your CV, help you position yourself for a new role or a raise, and talk through the questions a course won't answer.

This is volunteer, not a service - no invoice, no package, no commitment on either side. If I have the time and it's useful to you, I'm happy to help.

- **Format:** Video call, screen share, your CV or notes open
- **Cost:** Free - this is volunteer, not a service

## What a session covers

- **CV review:** You send your CV. I read it the way a hiring manager or a technical interviewer would, and tell you what to cut, add, or reframe.
- **Positioning for a role:** Which projects to lead with, how to describe what you actually built, and how to answer 'walk me through your experience' without rambling.
- **Is a CS degree worth it?:** I still don't know if my own CS degree was worth the years it took - happy to talk through what actually mattered on the job.
- **Making the case for a raise:** What evidence actually moves a raise or promotion conversation, and how to bring it to your manager instead of just asking and hoping.

## How a session runs

### Send me what you're working on

A CV to review, a role you are positioning for, a raise conversation you are preparing, or an interview coming up. One paragraph is enough.

### I prepare before the call

I read your CV or the material first, so the hour goes on your questions instead of on me catching up.

### You drive the call

Screen share, your CV or your notes open. You drive; I ask the questions that expose what's missing or unclear.

### You get the notes

A short written summary after the call: what to fix, what to prepare next, and a link behind any claim I made.

## Who this fits, and who it does not

### Who is this for?

Frontend developers who want a CV reviewed by someone who has sat on the hiring side, are positioning themselves for a new role or a promotion, or are preparing to work with an English-speaking team or client for the first time.

### Who is this not for?

People looking for a course from zero. I do not teach HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals - there is better free material for that than an hour of my time. **I also do not guarantee a raise, a job, or a referral.** Looking for paid work instead of mentoring - a build, an audit, a rescue? See [services](/services/), or the [sites I've built](/projects/).

### Do you take long-term mentees?

Sometimes, as an occasional recurring call rather than anything scheduled or promised in advance. We keep going as long as it's useful to you and I have the time. No package, no minimum.

### What does it cost?

Nothing. This is volunteer, not a paid service - I don't invoice for it and I don't want to. That also means I can't commit to a fixed cadence or guarantee I have time for every request.
